The PV Middle School and Primary School students exceeded their goal of reading a Million pages this year. In fact, students read 1,767,233 pages! Achieving the goal will send Superintendent Alex Geordan up to the roof of the school on May 13, with a little help from Andover Fire Department.

During Proclamation Day May 6, Reading Coach Terri Pytlik, Principals Traci Hostetler and Andy Kuthy, Ohio Senator Capri Cafaro, School Librarians Chris Root and Diane Spellman, PV Multi Media students, Master of Ceremonies Scott Wludyga, were joined by Miss Betsy Paul and Mrs. Susan Hill of Andover Public Library in congratulating the students on the achievement.

Senator Cafaro Spoke about reading to the PV Middle School students and read the Primary School students an excerpt from "Where the Sidewalk Ends," poems for young people by Shel Silverstein. Miss Betsy Paul and Susan Hill performed a short skit promoting the Library's Summer Reading event with the theme of "Survivor Island, Make a Splash." Mrs. Terri Pytlik made awards to many students who achieved outstanding reading performance during the year. Senator Cafaro presented Commendations to each Principal during each assembly from Deborah Newcomb, our District member of the Ohio House of Representatives. Senator Cafaro also gave her special congratulations from the Ohio Senate.

It was a meaningful ceremony at each school and we hope the children will remember their Proclamation Day assembly. All of the Andover Public Library staff are proud of our Pymatuning Valley Schools and the students' many achievements.
