"Books are the legacies that a great genius leaves to mankind, which are delivered down from generation to generation as presents to the posterity of those who are yet unborn, "

Safety Town begins July 26 and runs through July 30. Designed for children entering Kindergarten, Safety Town teaches all the important information every child needs to know about Police, Fire, Paramedics, the School Bus, and the Emergency Room.

Safety Town is a joint effort of the Andover Public Library and the Police Auxiliary. It is held at Andover's Church of Christ each morning from  9 am to Noon, except Thursday is 9 am to 1 pm. Children sing songs and learn how to get out of the house in a fire, their own phone numbers, names and addresses, and other important information about being away from home and parents. At the end of the week is a program for parents and families at which children demonstrate their new knowledge. They tour fire engines, watch the Med-Evac helicopter land, meet police and paramedics, and learn not to be afraid of the gear and clothing of rescue workers.

We are proud to be part of Safety Town each year. Safety Town Registration forms are available at the Andover Public Library and information can be had by calling: 440-293-6792.
